Heat Wave!

It is HOT! I'm talking 105 degrees with a heat index of 120 degrees at times. Yuck. The only place to be in such extreme temperatures is Nana's pool, so that's where we've been lately. Owen is becoming quite the little fish. He has spent the last two summers less than enthusiastic about the water, but this year he is ready to swim! It's been fun (and a little terrifying) watching him gain confidence in the water. He loves to play in the pool and has recently discovered he can touch the bottom whilst walking on his toes. He wants to walk around by himself, so under a very watchful eye (and even closer arms), he meanders around the shallow end of Nana's pool with his little eyes pointed toward the sky so as not to get his face wet. It's a sight to see, for sure! One of Owen's other favorite activites is jumping off the edge of the pool into mama's arms. Here's a series of shots from a day at the pool. By the way, Owen likes to swim au naturel, or skinny dip, as we like to say in the South :) Silly boy-I'm not sure we'll ever convince him to wear a swimsuit!
